WIQAS AHMED, AIA

Wiqas joined the SLD Architectural team in August 2020 as a New York state licensed Architect. Wiqas has worked in the field of architecture since 2013, starting as an intern at EYP and working his way up to the role of Architect. During his tenure at EYP, he became an expert in many types of architecture and construction including higher education, government projects, laboratories, and historic preservation. He enjoys all types and phases of a project but his favorites are code reviews and design development phases, specifically anything involving space planning. Wiqas has worked on several projects of distinction including Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa which received the 2020 Community Enhancement through Architecture Award from the Iowa Architectural Foundation.

Wiqas received his higher education at HVCC, NYIT, and Syracuse University. He studied Architecture at all three, ultimately completing a Master of Architecture from Syracuse. His favorite project he worked on while at Syracuse was his thesis which was set in the Empire State Plaza and included a pure formalist argument. During his time away from the office, Wiqas loves to travel and has a goal of travelling to as many countries as possible. Next on his list is Uzbekistan as soon as COVID-19 travel restrictions are lifted.
