SLD performed structural design for the total renovation of multiple four-floor dormitory buildings constructed in the mid-1960s. The original structures are composed of cast-in-place concrete flat plate 2-way floor and roof slabs.  Structural modifications included penetrations through the concrete slabs for an accessible elevator, extension of a stair tower to the roof, new curved steel entry roof canopies, and new steel hip roof framing with curved and shed style central dormers over the original low slope system. Ashokan Hall, Shawangunk Hall, and Minnewaska Halls range in size from 53,000 to 55,000 SF.
